Outdoor Academy (“we”, “our”, “us”) provides mobile and web services designed to help people enjoy and learn outdoor skills.

2. Scope
This notice applies to all versions of the Outdoor Academy app and website and explains how we collect, use, share, secure and retain “personal and sensitive user data” as defined by Google Play Policy Google Help.

We do not request data that is not needed for the app’s core features Google Help.
4. Why We Use Data
- A – Core functionality: enable trail recording, sync user progress, and display saved content Google Help.
- B – Maintenance & security: detect bugs, prevent fraud and ensure service integrity Android Developers.
- C – Analytics & improvement: understand feature popularity and improve the user experience. Analytics are aggregated and de-identified.
- D – Marketing (opt-in only): send tips and promotions by email or push if you grant permission. You can withdraw consent at any time (§9).
We never sell personal data California DOJ.
5. Legal Bases & User Rights
- GDPR (EEA users) – You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, port or object to processing GDPR.eu.
- CCPA (California users) – You may ask us to disclose, delete, or stop “selling/sharing” personal information California DOJ.
- Other regions – We honour equivalent local rights where required.

6. Sharing & Disclosure
We share data only with:

Third parties must process data solely per our instructions and according to Google Play’s “User Data” policy Google Help.
7. Children’s Privacy
Outdoor Academy is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn we have done so, we will delete it as required by COPPA Federal Trade Commission. Future child-friendly features will incorporate verifiable parental consent as per Google Play’s Child-Safety standards Google Help.
8. Security Measures
- TLS 1.3 encryption for data-in-transit.
- Android Keystore + AES-256 for sensitive tokens Android Developers.
- Principle of least privilege; production data accessible only to vetted staff with 2-factor authentication.
- Annual penetration tests and continuous monitoring.
9. Data Retention & Deletion
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes in §4, then anonymise or securely destroy it AP News.
In-app deletion: Profile ▸ Account ▸ Delete Account (immediate, irreversible).
Web deletion: https://outdoor.acadmy/delete (or email us).
These flows meet Google Play’s account-deletion requirement Google Help.
10. International Transfers
If data moves outside your region (e.g., to the United States), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as SCCs or UK IDTA. Users may request a copy via §5.
11. Automated Decision-Making
The app does not make decisions that legally or significantly affect you based solely on automated processing.
12. Changes to This Policy
We will post any updates on this page and, for material changes, send an in-app notification or email at least 7 days before they take effect WIRED.

Glossary
- “Personal data” – Any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual (GDPR Art. 4).
- “Sensitive data” – As defined in Google Play Developer Policies (e.g., precise location, financial info).
- “Processing” – Any operation performed on personal data (collection, storage, deletion, etc.).
